Yes, I had to switch to Finder by clicking "cmd-F" and then do I "cmd-Tab" to Finder.
In Finder did I just click the key-combo to start the program. I've choosen "cmd-*" (* in numb pad on an extended keyboard) to start/stop the capturing, but anything goes I guess.
