Icky, I haven't seen anything like that but my iMac is nearly 6 months old now :) I'll put in a trouble ticket for it although I don't know how we're going to recreate it.

That sounds a lot like a vsync (vertical sync) or heat problem - more that latter. But make sure you disable Vsync in the in-game settings. If that doesn't change things, you might check your case...
